Get Relief During Menopause with Oilation Therapy

Receive deep nourishment and hormonal balance from the time-tested practice of oilation
Menopause is a natural event, but for many, it can be a difficult time due to anxiety, dryness, hot flashes, joint stiffness, and emotional ups and downs. At Verdant Ayurveda, we offer a holistic solution grounded in traditional Ayurvedic approaches: Oilation.

What is Oilation?

Oilation is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy involving medicinal oils—applied both internally and externally—for the deep nourishment of the body, calming the mind, and supporting hormonal balance. It is key in pacifying Vata Dosha, which tends to be aggravated during menopause. Vata is responsible for movement, dryness, and the nervous system—when out of balance, many of the symptoms women feel during menopause begin to occur. Oilation helps to bring moisture, warmth, and stability back into the body, which helps one feel grounded and radiant in the transitional stage of life.

How Oilation Aids Your Journey Through Menopause?

Oilation is not a one-size-fits-all adjustment; it is a thoughtful and intentional practice that is suited to your body constitution (Prakriti) and health concerns at the time. At Verdant Ayurveda, our skilled practitioners take you through an individual oilation technique, which includes the following:

Massage Oilation (Abhyanga)

Receiving a regular self-massage or a professional oil massage, done with warm oil made with herbs, will lubricate your joints, calm your nervous system and support your skin. The practice of daily oilation improves circulation and relieves symptoms of dryness, restlessness and fatigue.

Nasal oilation

Nasal oilation (Nasya)

Adding a couple of drops of a medicated oil to your nostrils every day supports mental clarity, emotional balance, and hormonal alignment. This is useful in particular for alleviating anxiety, sleeping better, and mitigating mood swings.

Belly button oilation (Nabhi Snehana)

Applying oil in your belly button can help with digestion and hormonal regulation - both of which are often affected when entering into menopause. While this method is subtle, its healing abilities are potent, improving the body's dietary process and attempting to balance Vata from the core of the body.

Oil pulling (Gandusha)

Oil pulling for a few minutes a day, is cleansing to the body, promotes oral health, and improves the gut-brain connection during a transitional period like menopause where both systems are critically important.
Dietary Oiling

Dietary Oiling

Taking care of your body extends beyond what you apply externally. Including healthy, oily foods in your diet, such as ghee, sesame oil, or flaxseed oil, replenishes internal moisture and improves hormone production.

The Secret to Proper Oiling

The secret to oiling is found within the details: the oil you use, how often, and the way you do it- all in conjunction with your Dosha and specific concerns. At Verdant Ayurveda, everyone’s oiling plan is individualized to deal with that with the use of therapeutic oils such as:

  • Ashwagandha oil: for calming the nerves and creating energy
  • Bala oil: for strengthening muscles and bones
  • Brahmi oil: for clarity and sleeping support
  • Shatavari oil: for balancing female hormones

Your oiling practice here will not just provide you with the action of the oiling. You will experience your oiling in a manner that nourishes and creates shifts in your mind and body.
